Walter James Goodman

Walter James Goodman,  72, of Hastings, passed away at the home he shared with his life partner, Vicki LaFrance, on November 28, 2021. He was a loving father, loyal and faithful friend to all that knew him. 

Walter was born on November 18, 1949 in Syracuse, NY, one of three children, to Warren David and Lillian Mae Goodman. He grew up in Lyncourt, NY, where he formed close friendships that he maintained throughout his life. Walter was an honorable veteran who, as a young man, proudly served our country during the Vietnam War. He received a Bronze Star and several other medals for his honorable service. He was a very kind and generous spirit who made himself available to those around him if, and when, they were in need. Walter recognized and believed in the brotherhood of man and contributed in every way he could throughout his life. He will truly be missed, never forgotten.

Walter is predeceased in death by his parents and eldest sister Cynthia "Goodman" Betters. He is survived by his long time girlfriend Vicki LaFrance; daughter April Goodman; son Paulie Sheehan; son in law Mark A. Overend, Jr.; youngest sister Susan Goodman; grandchildren Taylor Overend and Paulie Sheehan, Jr.; several nieces and nephews; and many, many, lifelong friends.

Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at Watson Funeral Home in Central Square. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will take place on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at the Onondaga County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 4069 Howlett Hill Rd., Syracuse, NY 13215. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America.
