Raymond M. Florczyk passed away unexpectedly on September 18, 2021 after a brief illness. He was 54 years old. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Florczyk. Ray is survived by his parents, Barbara and Raymond Florczyk, his sisters Lynn Kreis (Steve) and Patricia Sharpe (Alan), and nephews Shaun Besaw and AJ Sharpe.
Upon his graduation from Wheeling Jesuit College in West Virginia, he started his career in Nuclear Medicine at Oswego Hospital where he remained dedicated for over 30 years. His coworkers were not just friends, they were his second family. Although he didn’t have any of his own, Ray supported hiscoworkers’ children with school and sports fund raisers over the years. Ray was generous to a fault and could be counted on to support local businesses and to make you laugh. He was an animal lover and would pet sit for anyone that asked. He would rather be behind the camera taking pictures, than in front of it. It is rare to have a photo of him without making a funny face. Although he was a self proclaimed Grinch, he loved to make people laugh with corny puns and dad jokes and was a big goofball.
The family would like to thank the ICU Nurses and Staff at Oswego Hospital for their care, compassion and tireless efforts.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 4pm to 7pm, at Watson Funeral Home in Central Square. A funeral mass will be at Divine Mercy Parish, Central Square on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 9:30am, followed by burial at Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay. There will be a small reception immediately following at Divine Mercy Parish Hall.
