Leo J. Bielski, 79 born, January 24, 1944 in Syracuse, New York and died September 9, 2023 at the Francis House in Syracuse, New York following a courageous 23 year battle with numerous cancers. Leo resided in Central Square, New York for nearly 40 years. While residing in Syracuse Leo worked for the family business, Bielski’s Friendly Tavern and then drove School Bus for Central Square School District retiring in 2007 following 21 years of service. Leo was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, his family get togethers, time spent with his grandchildren, his many friendships and especially the many diner lunches with Dick Auringer.
Leo is survived by daughters, Stacey (Jeff) McCann and Melissa Bielski Kempisty; sisters, Genevieve Bielski and Pamela (William) Perrey; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Leon Bielski; mother, Lela Bielski Herauf and a sister, Judith Mercardo.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7pm on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 with services to follow immediately at Watson Funeral Home, 631 South Main Street, Central Square, New York. Graveside service will be 11:00 am on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Hillside Cemetery in Central Square, New York.
