John B Smith

John B. Smith 79, of Brewerton passed away on April 2, 2020 in his home surrounded by family.

John was born on May 19, 1940 in Punxsutawney, PA to the late Charles and Nina (McDowell) Smith.

He met his wife of 50 years, JoAnne, in 1963 and married in 1969. John proudly served in the Marine Corps and worked for General Electric, Bell Telephone, New York Telephone and Verizon. John was an avid reader and did extensive research of family genealogy.

John was very involved in his church and served for many years as an usher at Divine Mercy Parish. He was also a long-time member and past president of CNY Rod and Gun Club. John was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. From safaris in Africa, India and Alaska to hunting with his brother, sisters, brother-in-law, sons, nephews and friends; he loved to be out in nature. He was happiest in a swamp waiting for the ducks to come in.

John is survived by his wife JoAnne (Pfeifer); daughter Laurie Farina, sons Dan and Brian; grandchildren Daniel and Lilly Smith and Kieran Farina; sisters Susie (Bill) Webster and Cathy (Ken) Burkett. John is predeceased by his brother James (Norma)Smith.
