Helene Hitchcock, "Sue" Obituary

Helene M. Hitchcock “Sue,” 80, of Central Square passed away on March 13, 2020. 

Born on May 26th, 1939, in Albany, NY to the late Edward and the late Helen (Harris) Knapp, Sue, as she was called, worked at the Byrne Dairy in the Square for years and then retired from Central Square School District where she had worked as a Custodian alongside her husband. She had a thirst for knowledge and was an avid reader. She especially liked history and the Civil War in which she did extensive research of our ancestors. Sue had an amazing green thumb and gardening was one of her passions. She loved to cook and can things from her garden. She sewed and quilted and loved to be on the boat with her husband.  Sue had a creative inquisitive mind and spirit.  She was a very loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. 

Sue was preceded in death by her husband Harold on September 2, 2005 and her brother Gerald Knapp. She is survived by her children Debbie (Tom) Osborne, Tami (Gary)  Durant, Harold (Donnette) Hitchcock, and Michael (Carol) Hitchcock; grandchildren Angie, Craig, Duncan, Justin, Jamie, Matthew, Travis, Jackie, Brandon and Dustin; great grandchildren Kellie, Craig, Kali, Eva, Alianna, Alexander, Blake, Brylee and Bentley; brother Edward (Janet) Knapp; sisters Janet (John) Dunn, Donna (William) Terry, Kathryne (William) Harris, and Ruth Knapp. She was also beloved by many nieces, nephews and friends.

A private service is to be determined at a later time.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Oswego County Office for the Aging and/or Alzheimer's Association.
