Ruby Caroline O'Mara, 90, of Central Square, passed away on Wednesday with family by her side as the sun shone through her window. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born to Stephen and Leona Hasto in Albion, NY, as the 5th of seven children. Ruby graduated from Mexico High School and went on to be a telephone operator, taking a break to raise her children, then returning to NY Telephone where she retired in the late '80s. Ruby was a life-long Parishioner of Divine Mercy Parish and served as the organist for many years at St. Michael's. Family gatherings were important events for Ruby and she cherished making those moments special. She especially loved Christmas and would hold an annual yard lighting celebration. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, in 1987.
She is survived by her children, Patricia (George) Walter, Paul (Cynthia) O'Mara, Mark (Debbie) O'Mara, Michael (Monica) O'Mara, John (Colette) O'Mara, Janet (Elena) O'Mara; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Ann Edwards; sisters-in-law, Theresa O'Mara and Doris Hasto; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling Hours will be held Sunday, 11/18/2018, 2 - 5 PM, at Watson Funeral Home, Central Square. A Funeral Mass will be held the following Monday, 11 AM, at Divine Mercy Parish, Central Square. Burial will take place in the spring at West Monroe Cemetery.
