Ronald L. Myers

Ronald L. Myers entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 13, 2018, at the Eastern Star Campus, Oriskany, NY.  He was 77 years old.

Ron was the son of Harold and Doris Bradbury Myers, born and raised in Mallory, NY. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Central Square for over 60 years serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Deacon for many years.  Ron was also Secretary Treasurer of Pine Grove Cemetery in Mallory for more than 20 years.  He became a Mason in May of 1962, serving as Master two times.  Ron was a member of the Order of Eastern Star of the State of New York, Oneida Lake Chapter #123, serving as Patron many times, Associate Grand Sentinel, Grand Sentinel, District Grand Lecturer, Grand Fraternal Correspondent, and was elected Chief Commissioner of Appeals and Grand Trustee where he served for over 50 years. He was a former member of Central Square Fire Department and honorary member of the Hastings Fire Department.  Ron was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, holding several positions and receiving numerous awards of which he was most proud. He served as Scoutmaster of the Hastings Troop for 20 plus years, was Chairman of the Eagle Scouts, Ontario District of B.S.A. for over 18 years, the district Award of Merit, Dedicated Service Award, Silver Beaver Award, received his beads as member of Wood Badge and the highest award for Order of the Arrow, the Vigil Award. Ron was a member of Sons of American Legion in Central Square and held the office of Vice Commander.  He served the community as Town Justice for Hastings since 1980. 

Ron is predeceased in death by his brother Lyle E. Myers; his mother and father; son Karl Lyle Myers; and wife Patricia A. Schoen Myers.  He is survived by his daughter Kathrine I. (Craig) Mapstone and two grandsons Karl L. and Kevin C. Mapstone of Canandaigua and a brother, Ken Myers.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 20th at 10AM at the First Baptist Church of Central Square.  Masonic and Eastern Star Services will be Thursday, April 19th begining at 7PM after calling hours, at the funeral home. Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, April 19th from 12 to 2 pm and 5 to 7 pm, at Watson Funeral Home, 631 South Main Street, Central Square.  Burial will be held immediately after the service on Friday, April 20th in Pine Grove Cemetery in Mallory, NY. 

Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in Ron's name to the First Baptist Church, Central Square, NY.
