James W. Delamater, 69, of West Monroe, passed away on Sunday at home with his wife by his side. He was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Vietnam War with the 513th Engineers DT. In the last decade, the 513th Engineers have had several reunions which James and his wife always attended. James worked at Crouse-Hinds as a Machinist (and more) and retired after more than 37 years. He enjoyed sharing the outdoors with his son and granddaughter, often hunting and fishing together. When he went camping all the grandchildren would follow, along with other friends and family, often for weeks at a time. James enjoyed a good conversation and could always be found with family, friends, or even a stranger. He is predeceased by his parents, brother, and a great-granddaughter.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart, his wife of 15 years, Suzette (Harrington); children, Patricia Iacampo-Delamater, Gina Brewster Delamater, James N. (Melissa) Delamater, Kevin (Geri) Rodda, Thomas Rodda, and Kara (David) James; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandson; siblings, Merrill (Sallie) Delamater, Wayne (Sharon) Delamater, Cora Bailey, Jack Delamater; several nieces and nephews; and his loving companion, Trouble.
