Floyd Vickery Obituary

Floyd W. Vickery, Jr., 86, resident of Colonial Park Nursing Home and formerly of Pennellville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 27, 2019.

Floyd was born on July 30, 1932 in Clay, NY to the late Floyd and Alice (Mills) Vickery. He was educated at local country schools in the Pennellville area. After his schooling, Floyd joined the service, proudly serving with the U.S. Marines as an amphibious mechanic from 1954-1957. Upon returning from his service, he settled in New Hampshire where he met his loving wife of 52 years, Louise (Pickering) Vickery. Floyd and Louise eventually returned to New York where he was then employed at Nestles in Fulton. After his retirement, he went back into dairy farming in Pulaski. Floyd was an avid hunter, had a passion for farming, and loved animals; especially dogs. He was practically an animal whisperer.

Surviving besides his wife, Louise; are three children: Floyd (Kelly) Vickery, Stephanie (Greg) Fontaine, and Karen (Chuck) Alfeltes. four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters: Margaret, Pat, and Lois.

He was predeceased by two children, a daughter, Debra, and a son, both in infancy; a grandson, Scott Fontaine; and a sister, Mary.

Calling Hours with be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Monday, February 4, 2019 at Watson Funeral Home, 631 S. Main St., Central Square.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of Floyd's favorite charities, Toys for Tots; or to honor Floyd's faithful service to our country a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project may be considered.
