Susan A DeCoursey, 72, of Hastings, NY and Port Orange, FL passed away on February 14th at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a long illness surrounded by family.
Sue was the daughter of the late Richard and Virginia Compton. She was a graduate of P V Moore High School in Central Square, NY.
Sue was married to William DeCoursey for 40 plus years.
Sue proudly worked as a custodian for over 25 years in the Central Square School District. Upon their retirement Sue and Bill became "snowbirds” dividing their time between NY and FL. Over the years she enjoyed golfing, bowling , and spending time with their many friends camping. Sue loved riding around their home in FL on the golf cart but not until “ The Price Is Right” was over and back before “ Let’s Make A Deal” came on.
Sue was a Lifetime member of Constantia VFW Post 7325 and South Daytona American Legion Post 361 Ladies Auxiliaries.
Sue was a strong willed woman who spoke her mind, never afraid to “ call a spade a spade”. You never doubted where you stood with her.
Without a doubt her greatest joy was her grandchildren. When it came to them, there was no such word as “no”.
Sue was pre-deceased by her parents Dick and Ginny Compton, in-laws Charlie and Georgia DeCoursey, brother –in-law Rich Zachman and sister-in-law Marianne Cottet.
Sue is survived by husband Bill, son Jason , daughter Jennifer( Jerry ) Cocopoti, sister Sharon Zachman , brother Rick Compton, grandchildren Savannah Cocopoti, Melanie and Maddox DeCoursey.
