Hadwen B. Bisbo, 88, life time resident of West Monroe, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 2, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Born March 14, 1929, he is survived by his wife of 70 years Geraldine Gerthoffer; nine children Jill (Benjamen) Supraski, Sherry (George) Gibbs, Stephen Bisbo, Cindy (Eugene) Fortino, Melanie (David) Stevenson, Ginger (Michael) Corr, Mark (Celeste Moore) Bisbo, Michael Bisbo, and Julie McKerchie; two brothers Marvin Bisbo and Edward (Toni) McMahon; 17 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Hadwen is predeceased by his daughter Bonnie Casey and sister Virginia Compton, grandson Timothy Graber and parents Helen (Bryant) and Herbert Bisbo; in-laws Viola (Cosilman) and Francis Gertlhoffer.
Hadwen was a multi faceted man. He worked at Lays Mobil Gas Station in Constantia, Carrier for a few years, then became entrepreneur in many different fields, salesman, owned several ice cream stands, O.L. Dewey Paper Co., HS&M Snowmobile Co.,Real Estate Broker for Strout Realty, Bisbo Trust Construction Company, Town of West Monroe Supervisor, and Oswego County Legislatures for 13 years. He was an avid hunter. Loved all sports basketball, soccer, baseball, and boxing. He was a coach for North Shore Little League for several years where he loved teaching the kids the game. While being Supervisor for West Monroe, he was able to initiate Oswego County, Mental Health services, the spraying for EEE, Health Center in Central Square, along with several other programs. He loved politics, his family and friends. Hadwen will be missed. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Brewerton, NY. He belonged to West Monroe Grange, West Monroe Historical Society and Lions Club.
Calling Hours will be held from 3 to 7, Wednesday, at Cavalry Baptist Church, 9251 Brewerton Road (Rt. 11), Brewerton, NY 13029 with services following at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to The Cavalry Baptist Church, in memory of Hadwen Bisbo.
